“Walking” is a continuation of my study into healing. This body of work focuses on the search for healing though community. Often, it is people right around us who can help us the most. Sometimes, we have a tendency to look beyond our surrounding for help only to let those closest to us, friends and family, walk right past us and out of our lives. These figures are broken, pieced together with found object, and ultimately incomplete. Together, though, they have enough strength to walk forward, stronger and complete.

I have often asked myself, what does it mean to be whole? I certainly know what it means to be empty. When I was ten years old my father was tragically killed in a plane crash, I was broken and the feeling of emptiness was overwhelming.
We live in a torn, incomplete world. We use the pieces of that world to try and make us complete enough to move forward. Things… Junk. These do not make us whole. They weigh us down and ultimately break us.
